      Monte Sereno plans anniversary party

      The city of Monte Sereno plans a reception for current and former City Council members and residents in celebration of the city's 40th anniversary. The event is scheduled for May 14 from 4 to 6 p.m. at City Hall.

      Cunneen schedules town hall meetings

      Assemblymember Jim Cunneen will meet with constituents May 10 at a series of town hall meetings in the West Valley. The topics of discussion will be any concerns or questions of constituents.

      Meetings are set at the following times: 10:30 a.m. at the Saratoga Library Community Room, 13650 Saratoga Ave.; 12:30 p.m. in the Los Gatos Town Council Chambers, 110 E. Main St.; and 2 p.m. at Campbell Community Center, One W. Campbell Ave.

      Superior Court seeks Grand Jury applicants

      The Santa Clara County Superior Court is accepting applications for the 1997-98 term of the county Grand Jury.

      The Grand Jury is the county's investigatory body, whose major function is to examine aspects of city and county government and special districts.

      The next Grand Jury term will run from June 20, 1997, to to June 1998. An orientation for applicants will be held in May. For more information and applications, call Grand Jury Coordinator Gloria Alicia Chacon before May 15 at 299-3608.

      Annual Police Recognition Dinner

      This year, the annual Rotary Club dinner honoring Los Gatos Police officers will take place May 16 at 6 p.m. at La Rinconada Country Club, 14595 Clearview Dr., Los Gatos.

      The event will be open to the public. For a reservation, write a $25 check to Los Gatos Rotary Club and send it to Don McCleve, 16325 Oakhurst Dr., Monte Sereno, 95030.
