South wins two on the courts
The best of the South met the best of the North in all-star high school basketball action last week, and it was the South dominating with wins in both boys' and girls' action.
The South boys pulled out a tight 88-81 victory over the North, and the South girls rolled to a 78-64 win earlier the same day.
Court Showerman of Los Gatos tossed in seven points in the losing effort for the North boys, and Todd Ishimatsu of Leigh pitched in a bucket in the win for the South.
Deva Dawson of Los Gatos had four points for the North girls, and Sarah Peterson of Leigh also played for the North.
Martial arts tourney a winner
The Every Child's a Winner Classic martial arts tournament will make its debut at Lynbrook High School on May 10, when youngsters ages 7-17 will all go home with trophies just for displaying their martial arts talents.
The event is open to children all martial arts and styles.
Competition will be held in individual as well as team events.

Wrestling Camps slated for summer
Youth wrestling camps return to Los Gatos for the eighth straight year under the direction of Scott Downs, a former Gatos head wrestling coach who remains involved in the program at the high school.
Camps are slated for June 16-20 (beginners to intermediates, ages 7-12) and June 23-27 (advanced, ages 11-16 with at least junior high school experience).
The cost is $100 per wrestler, and camp hours are 1:30-4:30 p.m. each day in the wrestling room at the high school. Each session is limited to 26 wrestlers.
