Los Gatos pitcher Court Showerman throws out a Willow Glen runner headed for first. But Showerman and the Wildcats lost a tough 9-8 decision to the Rams, one of four losses for Los Gatos last week.

It was a busy week for the Los Gatos baseball team.
It just wasn't all that productive for the Wildcats.
Los Gatos had four games scheduled last week--only one in the De Anza Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League--and the Cats dropped all four.
Gatos lost 4-3 to Live Oak in a nonleague game to open the week, then fell 5-2 to Palo Alto in division play. A 9-8 loss to Willow Glen and a 12-1 loss to Oak Grove capped the dismal week for the Cats.
The week started out interestingly enough for the Wildcats when they jumped out to a 3-1 lead against Live Oak. But the Acorns rallied for three runs in the sixth and held on for a 4-3 victory.
Senior outfielder Scott Grover singled and doubled and senior catcher Nick Cuevas doubled and knocked in two runs for the Cats. Gatos could manage just four hits in the loss, though.
Los Gatos slipped to 9-6 in the De Anza Division with a 5-2 loss to Paly two days later. Craig Frey's double was the big blow for the Cats, who once again could manage just four hits.
It was a four-run fifth that broke the game open for the Vikings.
Los Gatos lost 9-8 in eight innings to Willow Glen later in the week.
Cuevas, Joel Gremore and Sean Haley each doubled and Court Showerman had two hits to spark a nine-hit attack for the Wildcats. Frey knocked in a pair of runs.
Los Gatos slipped below the .500 mark for the year after its 12-1 loss to Oak Grove to close out the week. Gatos is now 10-11 for the year.
Brian Geddie doubled twice in the loss and Cuevas smacked a double for the Cats, who had just five hits in the day.
Saints beat Leigh
Leigh, meanwhile, lost its only game last week, dropping a 6-1 nod to Santa Teresa.
The loss left the Longhorns 6-5 in the Mt. Hamilton Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League. Leigh needs a win this week to clinch an automatic berth in the Central Coast Section playoffs.
Leigh will host Piedmont Hills on May 7 in the final game of the league season. The Longhorns could lock up a playoff berth with a win in the 3:30 p.m. game.
Senior Kyle Garcia had two hits, but it wasn't enough for the Long-horns against the Saints. Leigh was outhit 14-4 in the game last week.
The 'Horns are now 9-11 for the year heading into the final week of the regular season. Leigh heads to Westmont for a nonleague game on May 8, 3:30 p.m.
Softball teams fall
It was a tough week for the girls' softball teams at Los Gatos and Leigh, too.
The Wildcats dropped a 7-3 decision to St. Francis in De Anza Division play and the Longhorns lost a tough 4-3 nod to Leland in Mt. Hamilton Division action.
Los Gatos lost its only game last week, falling 7-3 to the Lancers.
Senior Gemma Michaelis, junior Melanie Barker and sophomore Jessica Moeller ripped two hits each to spark an eight-hit attack for the Wildcats, but it wasn't enough.
The Cats sandwiched a three-run second-inning rally between St. Francis's two runs in the first and one in the third, and the game was knotted in a 3-3 tie through four innings.
But the Lancers unloaded for three in the fifth to break the game open.
The loss left the Cats 3-7 in the De Anza Division with just two games remaining. The Wildcats visit Homestead on May 8 and host Fremont on May 10 in a pair of 4 p.m. games.
Freshman Cora-Lee Rogers ripped a solo homer and also cracked a single, but Leigh lost a tough decision to Leland.
Kim Rose, another freshman, also had two hits for the Longhorns.
Leigh slipped to 7-2-1 in division play and to 16-7-1 for the year. The 'Horns close out the regular season this week when they visit Presentation on May 7 and host Westmont on May 9 in a pair of 3:30 p.m. games.
