Mona Conn
Mona Elizabeth Conn died of cardiac arrest on April 21, in her Los Gatos residence. She was 83.
Born on Aug. 5, 1917 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, she, sister Mary and parents Edward and Lenore moved to the United States in 1924, and settled in the Portland, Ore., area. Conn graduated from the University of Oregon in 1939, with a degree in political science. At the end of that same year, she married her husband, Roscoe Imrie Conn.
The couple and their growing family traveled to various parts of the country due to Imrie's job with the J.I. Case Tractor Company. In 1946, the Conns moved to Australia, where they remained for six years. They settled in Los Gatos in 1953, and lived in the same home on La Rinconada since 1955.
After earning a teaching credential and master's degree from San Jose State University, Conn taught in the Campbell Union High School District for 22 years, retiring in 1980, as Dean of Girls at Blackford High School.
"Her two passions in life were counseling and traveling," recalls her husband. "In counseling, Mona dedicated her entire professional career working with young people to, hopefully, help them better their lives."
Together with her husband, Conn was also active in the St. Mary's Catholic Parish in Los Gatos.
Survivors include husband of 61 years Roscoe Imrie Conn of Los Gatos; sons Michael, Richard and Gregory; daughters-in-law Kay, Bobbie and Linda; grandchildren Julie, Jeffrey, Jerod, Diana and Alicia; and great-granddaughter Kayla.
Memorial services have been held. Donations may be made to a favorite charity.
