Los Gatos Meadows hosts a free lecture on quilting
Kathryn Berenson, a world-renowned expert in French quilted needlework and author of Quilts of Provence, presents "A Stitch in Time," on May 23 at 1:30 p.m. at the Los Gatos Meadows, 110 Wood Road.
Berenson's illustrated lecture explores the beauty and tradition of quilting in southern France. An extensive traveler throughout Paris and Provence, Berenson has explored French markets, museums and boutiques to learn about her craft. Her large personal collection of quilts and other needlework has been the subject of articles in the New York Times, Colonial Homes and Country Living.
Not limited only to quilts, Berenson also opens the armoires of 17th- to 19th-century French households to explore the styles and histories of bed covers, petticoats, gowns, domestic articles and textiles.
The presentation is free, but reservations are requested, as seating is limited. Refreshments will be served after the event, and tours of the Meadows will be available. For more information, call 354-0211.
