The Puck Stops Here
Los Gatos twins Chrissy and Kathy Sands win scholarships to play ice hockey at Northeastern University
|
A hockey puck flies across the ice and ricochets off the boards. Two players race after it--one an adult male, the other a 17-year-old girl. The girl, Chrissy Sands, reaches the puck first. With hardly a glance, she passes it to her twin sister, Kathy, who plows her way through the other players--almost all of whom are men who are bigger than she is--to fire the puck toward the goal. Last fall, they made what they consider to be their greatest accomplishment in hockey so far--they each earned 75 percent scholarships to play Division I women's hockey at Northeastern University in Boston.
