Investigation leads police to local house of prostitution
By Gloria I. Wang
A Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police undercover investigation has again ended in success, with police arresting a Campbell woman for prostitution.
Police charged Charee Carman, 55, with one count of maintaining a house for the use of prostitution and one count of solicitation of prostitution.
Carman's May 2 arrest was the result of a two-week undercover operation, the third such investigation to end in an arrest in the past month.
Detective Greg Ezgar received information in April about Carman's possible prostitution activities in the Los Gatos area. Ezgar called Carman, asking to meet with her in order to purchase a pornographic video. Carman agreed and arranged to meet at her apartment on Hacienda Avenue in Campbell. At Carman's residence, Ezgar purchased the video and agreed to meet with Carman again at a later date.
On May 2, Ezgar phoned Carman and the two made plans to have sex at Carman's apartment, with Ezgar paying Carman a specific amount of money.
After Carman arrived at her home, Campbell and Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police took the woman into custody. Police also seized items such as condoms, a large sum of money and homemade pornographic videos.
In an area of the apartment that Carman called "the dungeon," police found items used for bondage such as a cage, whips, masks and an andersen cross--on which a person lays down and is held by stirrups and handcuffs.
Carman is scheduled for an arraignment June 17, when she will be formally charged for her crimes.
On April 5 and April 9, Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police arrested two men in separate cases of attempted sex with a minor. Detective Randy Bishop posed as a young girl in several Internet chat rooms and was approached by Casey Moh, 33, and Michael D'Arrigo, 46, both of San Jose. Both men were arrested when they arrived in Los Gatos to meet with the "girl" for the purpose of having sex.
