    The IRS holds a "Problem Solving Day" on May 20

    Individuals with long-standing tax problems can discuss their quandary face-to-face with Internal Revenue Service employees on May 20.

    The "Problem Solving Day" is part of a series of workshops to help people solve tax problems they haven't been able to address through normal IRS channels. The workshop takes place at the downtown San Jose IRS office at 55 S. Market St. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    Any taxpayers interested in attending should call 408.817.6863 for an appointment. Individuals should bring any relevant documents or correspondence.

    KCAT to present a series on foreign policy

    Local TV station KCAT, in conjunction with the League of Women Voters and the American Association of University Women, will be showing a series of interviews by the Foreign Policy Association.

    The programs feature interviews with international experts on everything from the Eurodollar to Middle East realignments. Each interview will be shown twice, on Mondays at 8 p.m. and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.

    The first topic, "U.S. Interests Redefined," will air on May 15 and 17. Call the League of Women Voters at 408.354.8359 for more information.

    Rep. Campbell taking academy nominations

    U.S. Rep. Tom Campbell is accepting nominations for the United States Service Academies, namely the Air Force, Army and Naval academies.

    The deadline to apply is Nov. 1. Call Campbell's district office at 408.371.7337 for more information.
