MROSD seeks input on its master plan

The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District has set workshops to gather public input on the district's master plan.

The district will take stock of its park and open space lands, trails, parking and other facilities, and it will project regional changes over the next 25 years.

A hearing is set for 7:30- 9:30 p.m. June 4 in the Los Gatos Town Council Chambers, 110 E. Main Street. For information, call 415/691-1200.

Social Services Agency seeks foster parents

The Santa Clara County Social Services Agency is looking for families to provide temporary care for children who cannot live at home because they have been abused or neglected. Although 2,000 children need foster homes every year, the county currently has fewer than 500 licensed foster homes.

The foster home licensing process usually takes about three to six months and involves fostering workshops and certification in CPR. Foster parents can be single people, two-parent families or same-gender partners of any ethnicity or income level. For information call 299-KIDS.

County schedules budget workshops

* Managed care, health, hospitals, 7 p.m May 20;

* Welfare and social services, 7 p.m. May 29.

Budget hearings, where decisions will be finalized, are scheduled for five days during the third week of June: June 16 at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.; June 17 at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.; June 18 at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and June 20 at 9:30 a.m.
