    Krcik member of state title team

    Jerry Krcik of Los Gatos was a member of the San Jose Blades peewee "A" ice hockey team that won Northern California and state championships.

    Krcik, 12, scored the winning goal against the Riverside Jets in the first round of the state championships, then had a goal and an assist in the title-clinching win over the Westminster Wave. The two wins capped a 40-0 season for the Blades.

    Krcik, a third generation Los Gatan, played on the front line along with Willie Green of Santa Cruz and Brett Sutter, the son of San Jose Sharks head coach Darryl Sutter.

    Senior Tennis

    Top senior tennis players were in the field last weekend at the USA Senior League Tennis Section Championships of Northern California held at Vintage High School and the Napa Valley Country Club.

    The 64 teams in the field included the Cupertino men's 3.5 and men's 4.0; the Los Gatos men's 3.0, women's 3.5 and women's 4.0; the San Jose men's 3.5; the Saratoga men's 4.0; and the Sunnyvale men's 3.0, women's 3.5 and women's 4.0.

    Winning teams advance to the USA League Tennis National Championships.

    Hoop Camp

    The annual Sid Williams Basketball Camp returns to Fisher Middle School in Los Gatos this summer.

    The camp runs July 10-14 with boys and girls entering grades 5-6 attending from 1-3:30 p.m., and boys and girls entering grades 7-9 attending from 4-7 p.m.

    Orientation

    All eighth-graders entering Los Gatos High School in the fall of 2000 are invited to a sports orientation night on May 23, 7 p.m., in the large gym at the high school. Call the school at 408.354.2730.
