Farnady leads Wildcats to CCS finals

    By Dick Sparrer

Powerful Anne Farnady and speedy Heather Hennessy will lead Los Gatos into the Central Coast Section track and field championships coming up May 28 at San Jose City College.

Farnady, a CCS semifinal champion in the discus, will be in the throwing circle for the Wildcats when the field events get under way at 4 p.m. on Friday.

Hennessy, second in the 800 meters in the girls semi's last weekend, will be on the oval when the track events take the starting gun at 6 p.m.

Hennessy, a sophomore, will also compete in the 4x400 relay with teammates Katie Zuparko, Aly Chavez and Amy LaPine at the CCS finals. The foursome won their heat and finished second in the final at the semifinal meet last weekend.

Sophomores Matt Bates and Russ Martin are Gatos boys who have won spots in the CCS finals this weekend. Bates finished third overall in the 1,600 meters at the semi's last weekend, and Martin was ninth in the 3,200-meter run.

Complete results of Los Gatos track and field performances at the CCS sub-section, semifinals and championship events will appear in next week's Weekly-Times.
