Community Hospital CEO leaves after 11 years

Truman L. Gates, the chief executive officer of Community Hospital of Los Gatos for the past 11 years, is leaving his position to become CEO of two Tenet hospitals in Palm Springs. Tenet is the parent company of Community Hospital. In Palm Springs, Gates will develop a central management team and business strategies.

Jack Dusenbery, a former CEO for a Tenet hospital in Oregon, will step in as interim CEO in Los Gatos.

During Gates' tenure with Community Hospital, he promoted many new concepts and programs and maintained the organization as a successful, financially sound hospital and medical center.

Among Gates' most recent developments are a new oncology center, a women's cancer center, a transfusion-free medicine and surgery program, the Center for Spinal Diagnostics and the Physical Performance Institute, which operates in conjunction with San Jose State University.

"I'm looking forward to new challenges in Palm Springs, but I certainly will miss the many friends and associates I have had the pleasure to know during the past years," Gates said. "My affiliation with Community Hospital of Los Gatos has been a very rewarding part of my personal life and my career."

Swim & Racquet Club earns recognition

The United States Professional Tennis Registry named the Los Gatos Swim & Racquet Club as its Facility of the Year during the International Tennis Symposium in South Carolina in February. The Facility of the Year award goes to a facility that has demonstrated a commitment to the game of tennis by offering its accommodations and services to the tennis community.

Established in 1959 by the Denevi family, the Los Gatos Swim & Racquet Club offers 13 lighted courts and has hosted many USPTR tennis teacher workshops as well as other events, including a fundraiser for the San Jose State University women's tennis programs attended by celebrity tennis players.
