School board OKs application for grant

By John Pancharian

Los Gatos High School is on track to receive $437,400 in State Digital High School grants. At their May 19 meeting, the Los Gatos Saratoga Joint Union High School District board of trustees voted to approve the official application, which now goes to the state for review before the money starts to roll in.

Carol Mann, technology coordinator at LGHS, has spent the past several weeks preparing the 18-page application, which must detail just how the high school intends to allocate funds. She collected input from both community members and faculty to create the current proposal, which includes, among other projects, installing a student server, creating a library media center and upgrading current computer labs. The application also mentions the importance of staff development to ensure that teachers are prepared to take full advantage of the new technology when it becomes available.
