Los Gatos Weekly-TimesNews BriefsGay Strand accepts county library position Monte Sereno mayor Suzanne Jackson announced Friday afternoon that City Manager Gay Strand has resigned and will leave June 19 to accept a position as administrative services manager for the Santa Clara County Library system. The City Council will begin the process of finding a new city manager during an executive session during the first week of June. Strand has been praised by city staff and other local government officials as a capable manager. She was recently appointed president of the Santa Clara County Association of City Managers. Strand found herself the target of councilmembers Joel Gambord and Gordon Knight, who tried to fire her in June 1997 but could not gather support from the rest of the five-member council. Monte Sereno's only building inspector, Manny Kadkhodayan, will also be leaving to accept a position as a project manager with the city of Sunnyvale. Los Gatos and Saratoga building department staff have volunteered to cover Kadkhodayan's position during the interim.
