LGHS presents pops concert

The Los Gatos High School music department's 15th annual pops concert, taking place May 29 and 30 at 8 p.m. in the Prentiss Brown Auditorium, is On Broadway VIII, with the theme "New York State of Mind."

The show features medleys of both traditional and contemporary Broadway tunes played by the LGHS school orchestra. The school choir will sing excerpts from Grease, Broadway's latest smash revival. The Jazz Purr group will be featured in a Gershwin Showcase, and the Fisher Middle School choir will perform selections from You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.

The staff includes many local talents, including technical director Jarrett Carberry, a 1996 LGHS graduate now studying at Carnegie Mellon University. LGHS graduate Amberlin Wu also returns to assist choreographer K.T. Peterson. Saratogan Steve Porter is technical adviser, with Los Gatans Jeanne Aikman and Linda Lee working on set design and costumes, respectively. Diana Pleasant directs the choirs, with Ken Rydeen conducting the orchestra.

Tickets are $8 for reserved seats and $6 general admission. Proceeds benefit the LGHS music program. For more information, call 358-2343.
