The Prowler

The Prowler, like many other Los Gatans, is eagerly anticipating the month of June because of the fun events it brings.

First on the agenda is Eastfield Ming Quong's 37th annual Strawberry Festival--a salute to the tangy red fruit as well as a fundraiser for EMQ's programs for emotionally troubled children, teens and their families. Grown too large for the Los Gatos Civic Center, this year's fest on June 7 and 8 will sprawl at West Valley College in Saratoga. While you're there, check out the Los Gatos Weekly-Times/Saratoga News booth, which features a newspaper toss game.

Happening for the very first time, also on June 8, is the Mountain Art Guild's art and garden show. This group of creative folks from the Santa Cruz Mountains has come together to exhibit and sell their works. Musicians will entertain throughout the day. Give chairwoman Lorri Scott a call at 353-1609 for more info.

No matter how many times "Pomp and Circumstance" is played, it's always new to those who've never before graduated from somewhere. Fisher Middle School eighth-graders will receive their diplomas on June 11, followed two nights later--on Friday the 13th--by Los Gatos High School's Class of 1997. We hope no one will trip on stage!

Although this doesn't happen until June 27, the Prowler just has to mention "Ooey Gooey, Icky Sticky, Very Messy Game Day," part of Calvary Church's Summer Spectacular program. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., first- through fifth-graders can try 19 crazy activities including a 24-foot Jello slide, squish art and "Mashed Potato City." Call 356-5126, ext. 215, for information; your kids will love you for it!
