Talesfore joins commission one more time

The Los Gatos Town Council appointed Joanne Talesfore to the town's planning commission for the second time because of a technicality in the law requiring the council to wait 30 days between the vacancy of a position and an appointment.

Town officials anticipated Commissioner Suzanne Müller's resignation March 18 and as a result chose Talesfore to take her seat. On May 20, Talesfore was the only person to reapply for the position and was appointed 4-1, with Councilman Steve Glickman dissenting.

Annual police charity event at Steamer's

The Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department will hold its annual Tip-a-Cop event next month--this time split into two parts. On June 5, from 5 to 9 p.m., police officers will be at Steamer's, delivering food and bussing tables. The officers will collect tips that will benefit the Special Olympics. Police officials, a K-9 unit and at least one San Jose Shark will staff a booth restaurant that will sell T-shirts, also for the Special Olympics.

A lunch Tip-a-Cop event at Willow Street Wood-Fired Pizza is scheduled for June 23.

    Leadership program ends with luncheon

Leadership Los Gatos 2001-02, the town's first program to get citizens involved in the community, ends its nine-month run with a graduation luncheon on June 7. The luncheon, at the Toll House Hotel, will celebrate the 22 participants and is from noon to 1:30 p.m.

The cost is $25 per person. For more information, contact the Town of Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce at 408.354.9300.
