Harmatz Get-together
Current and former athletes and their parents, along with friends of the Los Gatos track and cross-country programs, are invited to celebrate the career of coach Willie Harmatz on Sunday, June 3, 4 p.m., at Oak Meadow Park.
Harmatz is retiring as the head coach of the track and cross-country teams after an illustrious career, though he will remain involved with the programs.
Cooke All-Pac 10
Megan Cooke, a 1998 graduate of Los Gatos High, was named to the all-Pac 10 women's crew team this spring after an outstanding junior season at UC-Berkeley.
Cooke, the team captain, helped the Golden Bears to a third-place finish at the Pac 10 championships held recently at Lake Natoma in Sacramento.
A year ago, Cooke earned Pac 10 all-academic honors for the team that placed fourth in the NCAA rowing championships in New Jersey.
Benefit golf tourney set
A golf tournament to benefit the Neill Parry Foundation will be held June 1 at the Cinnabar Hills Golf Club in San Jose.
The tourney, hosted by the Willow Glen Rotary, will benefit the Parry Foundation. Parry is the San Jose State University football player who lost his leg during the 2000 season, and the foundation in his name assists athletes who have been seriously injured. Some of the proceeds will also benefit the Rotary's ongoing charities program.
The entry fee for the scramble tournament is $200 per golfer and includes green fees and cart, as well as food and beverages throughout the day.
