Los Gatos Weekly-TimesFair offers opportunity for young performersIn cooperation with Youth Focus Inc., the Santa Clara County Fair is now accepting applications for groups and individuals who wish to participate in this summer's Community Showcase at the fair. The Community Showcase is a chance for local performers to participate in categories such as on-stage acts, marching concerts, theater groups, dancing groups, musical performances and martial arts demonstrations. Groups or individuals who are selected will receive free fair admission for themselves and two guests on the day of their performance. All new and returning acts must submit a performance request form by June 16 and will be assigned dates on a first-come, first-served basis. Call Youth Focus at 298-2644 for more information. This year's Santa Clara County Fair, which runs July 24 through Aug. 3, celebrates the theme "Country Fresh Family Fun." In addition to the traditional exhibits, concerts and international food booths, this year features a human cannonball, sprint car races, the Imagination Gallery and the Paul Bunyan Logging Show.
