'Silence Matters' at Villa Montalvo

    The Prowler

It's often said that good things come in threes. Although the Prowler is not overly fond of perpetuating superstition (especially being a black cat!), this week's column happens to be about three interesting events that caught this feline's ever-curious eye.

First, for all the shoppers out there--the Discovery Shop at 39 E. Main St. is holding an event it calls its Cookie Jar Extravaganza on June 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and June 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Over that weekend, the shop will have a huge array of cookie jars in all shapes and sizes for sale--cookies not included; sorry! Proceeds of this event, as all proceeds from gently used items sold in the shop, benefit the American Cancer Society.

Next is something for early-rising nature-lovers: a local outing with the Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society. On June 10, at 8 a.m., club members will meet at Oak Meadow Park to do some bird-watching there and in neighboring Vasona Lake County Park. The Prowler can attest to the sheer numbers of feathered friends in both venues! Just for the record--this cat does not eat birds; just watches them. Not an Audubon member? Not a problem! The group holds a new-member open house on June 17, at 9:30 a.m. in McClellan Ranch Park in Cupertino. For more info about joining, call 408.252.3747.

Finally, don't miss the latest exhibit at the Los Gatos Museum of Art and Natural Science at 4 Tait Ave. Now through July 30, international artist Eduardo Smissen is exhibiting a variety of mixed-media works that include acrylic paints and "found objects." The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. Give them a jingle at 408.354.2646 for more information.
