Successful Student Stock Brokers
It seems Fisher Middle School students know how to play the stock market. Two teams from the school took first and second place out of 350 teams from throughout Northern California at a competition sponsored by Cal State University, Hayward. The local winners honored at an awards banquet in May in San Francisco were (clockwise from left) Ryan Wooley, Candice Maldonado, Alison Reyes, Chanel Cramer, Brittany Shand, Melissa Mullins and Stephanie Huynh. At the start of the competition, each team received $100,000 in fake money to invest in the stock market. First place went to the team who made the most profits after the 10-week period was over. The first-place Fisher team made a profit of $22,784.50 and the second-place team gained $11,603.
