Los Gatos Weekly-TimesThe ProwlerCongratulations to all of Los Gatos' graduates--from kindergartners who will become "big kids" this fall to high school seniors preparing for a life of college, work, family or some combination of the three. For readers not swept up in graduation parties this coming weekend, or for those seeking something suitably anticlimactic, this cat has a suitable recommendation. The second annual Mountain Art Guild Show takes place June 13 and 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. amid the sylvan surroundings of the Loma Prieta Community Center and school site at 23800 Summit Road. The guild, founded in 1996 by Los Gatos mountain resident Lorri Scott, had great success with its first show, and the Prowler expects this year to be no different. Local artists will show and sell their work in media including stained glass, wood, gourd masks, photography, fiber art, clothing, quilts, sculpture, furniture and oil and watercolor paintings. Each artist has agreed to donate 10 percent of his or her profits to SPECTRA, a visual arts enrichment program at Loma Prieta School. Entertainment is provided by members of the eclectic Missouri band Liberal Dogs, who draw inspirations from jazz, rock and folk music, among other genres. The boys from the Show Me State have also just released their debut CD, titled No Catty Remarks Please! The Prowler will refrain from comment. Thirsty visitors will be glad to know that in conjunction with the 11th annual Santa Cruz Mountain Vintners' Festival, several local wineries will be pouring their potent potables at the guild's show. Call Scott for more info at 353-1609.
