Theatre in the Mountains, which is overseen and funded by the nonprofit Loma Prieta Community Foundation, puts on several theatrical productions and musicals each year. This May 20-June 3, the company performed The Wiz, a rhythm-and-blues musical version by Charlie Smalls of L. Frank Baum's classic tale The Wizard of Oz.

Directed by seasoned actor and director Douglas A. Hagdohl Jr. and produced by longtime costume and make-up designer Laurel Dentoni, The Wiz offered Los Gatans and other local residents of all ages, but especially children and teenagers, a taste of the challenges and rewards of acting in a community theater production.
