Los Gatos Weekly-TimesObituaryAngus Buchanan Former Los Gatan Angus Buchanan died of cancer May 9 in Napa, where he was residing with his daughter and son-in-law. He was 80. Born May 2, 1918, in Kilsyth, Scotland, Buchanan settled with his family in Illinois when he was a boy. After graduating from high school, he ran a lithography business in Evanston. He also worked as a wartime photographer for the U.S. Navy. After receiving a scholarship, Buchanan attended the Art Institute of Chicago and honed the artistic skills he already had, which included work in photography, sketching, oil painting and sculpture. Upon moving to San Jose, he continued his work in lithography until his retirement. He lived in Los Gatos for more than 30 years, where he was a member of the Los Gatos Art Association. He was also a member of the Graphic Communications International Union. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Kathleen and John Moore of Napa and Sandra and Jack Kedge of Albuquerque, N.M.; son and daughter-in-law Gordon and Marilyn Buchanan of Merced; grandchildren John, Adam, Edward and Christopher Kedge, Jennifer Curran, Susan Davis and Matthew Buchanan; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister Phoebe Regan of Fresno. Memorial services have been held, with interment at Tucolay Cemetery in Napa.
