Sports camps offer summer fun for kids

Wildcat Wrestling Camp

The ninth annual Wildcat Wrestling Camp will return to Los Gatos for three sessions this summer.

The camp begins with a session for beginning to intermediate wrestlers, ages 7-12, on June 29-July 3. The second session is for intermediate wrestlers in grades 6-9, and it runs July 6-10. The final session is set for July 13-17 for advanced wrestlers (those with high school or two years of junior high school experience) in grades 8-12.

Camps run from 1:30-4:30 p.m., and the cost is $110 per week. Each session is limited to the first 26 wrestlers. For more information, call Scott Downs at 354-2730.

SF Giants Youth Baseball Camp

Former San Francisco Giants second baseman Rob Andrews will head up the San Francisco Giants Youth Baseball Camps that will be held this summer at various Bay Area locations.

There will be a Giants Youth Camp held June 22-26, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day, at Monta Vista High School in Cupertino. The camp is open to players ages 8-12, and the cost is $215 per player.

An advanced training class for players ages 10-12 will be held June 29-July 3 at Monta Vista. The cost is $215.

The camp features instruction according to age groups. All campers receive a free ticket to a San Francisco Giants home game, a tour of 3Com Park (including the Giants clubhouse) for campers and their parents, visits from former pros who will provide instruction and sign autographs, a camp T-shirt, a color photo with coaches and visiting pros, and a camp scouting report.

WVC Basketball Camp

The annual West Valley College Boys Basketball Camp returns to the school's Saratoga camp this summer with sessions for boys ages 8-16 to run June 22-July 1.

Boys ages 13-16 will attend the camp from 9:10-11:10 a.m., and boys ages 8-12 will attend from 11:20 a.m.-1:20 p.m. The cost is $85 per player per sessions.

Sid Williams Basketball Camp

The annual Sid Williams Basketball Camp returns to the court at Fisher Middle School July 13-17. The camp is designed for "the motivated player" entering the fifth-ninth grade.

Session I will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. each days for boys and girls entering fifth and sixth grades. Session 2 for boys and girls going into the seventh-ninth grades will be held from 4-7 p.m.
