Little League all-stars set for openers

The season's over for the Los Gatos Little League--the regular season, anyway.

But that doesn't mean the year is through for many players in the local little league.

Los Gatos will send six teams into post-season competition in all-star play in five different age groups.

The 9-year-old and 11-year-old all-stars will be the first to open post-season play with games set for June 21.

The 9-year-old 'stars will battle Cambrian in a tournament opener on Saturday at the Quito Little League field. The 11-year-old all-stars open at 3 p.m. the same day when they take on Almaden at the American Little League field.

The 10-year-old all-stars will open play on June 26 against the Lincoln Glen-Cambrian first-round winner at 5:30 p.m. at the Cambrian Little League field.

The 12-year-old all-stars will begin their bid for a trip to the Little League World Series in Williamsport when they head to the Union Little League field for the tournament that begins June 28. The Los Gatos opener is set for July 2.

Los Gatos will also send two 8-year-old all-star teams into post-season play.
