Music fills the air in Saratoga

Tickets for Villa Montalvo's entire 1997 performing arts season are now on sale.

Performances are held at four venues: the 1,100-seat outdoor Garden Theatre, the indoor Carriage House Theatre, the Montalvo front lawn and--new this year--the Mountain Winery.

Performers in the newly renovated 300-seat Carriage House include Irish Fire, Poncho Sanchez, Tibetan Monks, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings and the Masters of the Slack Key Guitar. Performing on the front lawn will be John Denver, The Neville Brothers, Larry Carlton with Strunz and Farah, Gypsy Tribe, Richard Elliot and Rick Braun.

Among the performers scheduled for the Garden Theatre are Shawn Colvin, Sista Monica and the Battle of the Blues Divas, Anne Murray, Kathleen Battle and saxophone greats Grover Washington Jr., Dave Koz, Joe Lovano and David Sanborn. Montalvo's newest venue, the historic Mountain Winery, will host acts such as Boz Scaggs, Chris Isaak, John Tesh, Randy Travis and the Doobie Brothers.

Proceeds from these performances support Montalvo's Artists in Residence program, community outreach activities, The Gallery at Montalvo and Montalvo's literary arts programs. Villa Montalvo is located at 15400 Montalvo Road in Saratoga. For tickets or more information, call 961-5858 or visit the Web site at http://www.villamontalvo.org
