Police are still seeking suspect in assault case
By Jason Baker
Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police are continuing to search for a suspect wanted in connection with an assault in the area of Highway 17 and Highway 85.
On June 9 about 9:15 a.m., the female victim was walking away from her disabled vehicle near the interchange of southbound Highway 17 to southbound Highway 85. The suspect stopped to offer the woman a ride and when she declined, he tried to drag her into his vehicle. She broke free when another motorist stopped and yelled at the suspect to let the woman go. The suspect then fled the scene.
The motorist who assisted the victim took her to a telephone and told her he had the license number of the suspect's vehicle. However, he left the victim without providing his name or the license number. The victim received minor injuries during the incident, police said.
Police described the suspect as a black man in his mid-30s, about 6 feet tall, 165 pounds and bald. He was last seen wearing a blue sleeveless shirt, black baggy shorts and black, square-framed sunglasses. He was driving a blue Ford pickup truck with a blue camper shell.
The motorist who aided the victim is described as a Hispanic man, about 50 years old. He was driving a small red pickup with a lumber rack and construction tools in the bed of the truck.
Anyone with information on the identity of either the suspect or the assisting motorist is asked to contact the LG-MS police, 354-8600.
