Los Gatos Weekly-TimesThe ProwlerThe Prowler knows creative souls live everywhere, but it seems as though Los Gatos and Monte Sereno's population of artists is much larger than the norm. Because of this wellspring, there are often more events going on than one newspaper can cover. For example, there's Connections: A Group Show, which runs through July 11 at 2wenty 9ine East Main Cafe. Its genesis was in January 1996, when a group of local artists began meeting weekly, learning to overcome "artist's block," studying ideas of creativity and art and sharing insights and critiques. This May, Jade Bradbury Kalogeros, Linda Fillhardt, Amy Konsterlie, Anne Lamborn, Lynn Letterman, Mercy Smullen and Jane Swift put together their first group show, each woman contributing two works. The media are monotype, watercolor, graphics and photography. The Prowler encourages art fans to check out this multimedia exhibition. While there, try one of the cafe's great salads or pizzas. "Airbrush & Artglass," the latest exhibit at the Los Gatos Museum of Art and Natural History, also happens to be multimedia, not to mention quite interesting. Local Wayne Nooney contributes large, colorful canvases touched by the airbrush, while Johny Rosenstein, Alicia Spivak and Tom Stanton--the latter from Holy City Glass Works--offer a myriad of blown-glass pieces. The artwork itself is intriguing enough, but for true insight into the artists' minds, check out their statements, available at the museum, 4 Tait Ave. Hours are Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.
