Colt teams in hometown battle

By Dick Sparrer

It was a battle of the two hometown teams, and guess what? Los Gatos came out on top.

Los Gatos Boys Baseball has rejoined the Colt League circuit for the summer of 1998, and is fielding two teams in the 15-16 age division.

The clubs, Los Gatos #1 and Los Gatos #2, went head-to-head in a recent game at the Los Gatos High School field, and Los Gatos #2 rolled to an 8-4 victory.

Chet Kasper, Mike Cook and Mark Walleen combined to pitch Gatos #2 to the victory. Ben Hall and Ryan O'Gorman each doubled for the winners, and Cook, Kasper and Marcus Willard slapped two hits apiece.

Steven Chase tossed five innings for Los Gatos #1, and Brandon Burk finished up. Chase had two hits in the game, and Joe Sputenberg and Ryan Roberts each singled.

Los Gatos #1, coached by Frank Dixon and Ben Hintz, plays in the Colt League Southern Division against Blossom Valley #3, North County #3, Campbell #2, Willow Glen #2 and Willow Glen #4.

Brian Market and Cory Kneeshaw coach the Los Gatos #2 team that plays against Blossom Valley #2, Saratoga, North County #2, Willow Glen #3 and Campbell #1.
