Mills picked to all-star squad

Trina Mills of Los Gatos is a member of the Golden State Girls Basketball Club, a premier girls basketball team made up of all-star players from Northern California.

Golden State, a four-time NorCal AAU 16-and-under champion, will play a series of tournaments in Oregon, Washington, at the United State Air Force Academy in Colorado and in San Diego.

Wallis stars for Mercury

Marcia Wallis of Los Gatos is a member of the San Jose Central Mercury girls under-18 soccer team that advanced to the finals of the U.S. Youth Soccer Association Western Regionals in Albuquerque, N.M.

Wallis had a goal and an assist in an 8-0 win over Littleton United of Colo.; a goal in an 8-0 win over the Cheyenne Sting of Wyo.; a goal and an assist in a 7-0 victory over the Lef Boys of Boise, Idaho, in the tourney quarterfinals; and a goal in a 3-0 win over the Southern California Blues in the semifinals.

Soccer Camp

The Los Gatos United Soccer League will host a recreational summer camp on Aug. 17-21 at Fisher Middle School.

Paul Holocher, a Santa Clara All-American and charter member of the San Jose Clash, will run the camp.

The cost is $70 for players ages 5-7 and $80 for players ages 8 and over. Early registration is encouraged. Call 358-9289, ext. 5 for information.

All-comers Meets

Los Gatos will host a series of all-comers track and field meets at the high school track this summer. Meets are held Thursdays at 5 p.m. through Aug. 25. The entry fee is $3 for unlimited events, and the fee is $2 for spectators. For information, call Willie Harmatz at 354-7365.
