Los Gatos Weekly-TimesNews BriefsLongs Drugstore design denied Planning Commissioners asked architect Gary Veasy to rework his plans for a Long's Drugstore set for Kings Court Shopping Center. The commissioners wanted the store's facade made lower and more like the facade of Lunardi's. They also asked for fabric awnings, rather than the copper awnings proposed. The commissioners said it's important for the new store to reflect the look of the shopping center as well as modern style. Veasy is expected to return to the Planning Commission July 23. Todd honored for gun-control efforts Los Gatos Police Chief Larry Todd was honored June 26 by the Legal Community Against Violence for his efforts to enact gun-control laws. When Todd was president of the California Police Chiefs Association, he led the organization to take a strong position in favor of stricter firearm control laws. Todd was one of seven people honored at the event. The others were attorneys active in gun-control policy. County parks fees increase The Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department will increase fees beginning July 1. The following fees were adopted: daily vehicle entry, $3; annual vehicle pass, $50; charter bus fee, $25; camping, $10; senior camping, $5; second vehicle, $5; group unimproved site, $5 per vehicle; walk-in at Sanborn Park, $8; RV camping, second vehicle, $5; Huckleberry group area, $100 minimum; Manzanita group area, $120 minimum; coyote group area (under construction), $100 minimum; bundle of firewood, $5.
