Youth Science Institute gets budgetary boost
California's $99.4 billion budget for the next year includes funding for a local children's educational group, the Youth Science Institute.
Signed by Gov. Gray Davis in late June, the budget allocates millions of dollars in tax reductions and funding increases for public schools. The Youth Science institute, a trio of educational nature centers in the Santa Clara Valley, is one of those beneficiaries. Founded in 1953, the institute introduces thousands of valley students and teachers to nature through the program's activities and exhibits.
The institute will use part of the funds to expand its Vasona facility in Los Gatos.
