Los Gatos grads are named to Dean's List
Brian Hwang and Ryan Johnson, both graduates of Los Gatos High School, were named to the Dean's List at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania for their academic achievements in the spring semester.
Undergraduates must earn a GPA of at least 3.50 or better and take at least 12 units to qualify for the Dean's List.
LGHS grad studies German in Germany
LGHS graduate Stacey Mallison is studying in Germany for five months at the University of Bayrueth through UC-Berkeley's International Study Program. Her classes are taught in German.
Mallison studied the German language for two years while a student at Fisher Middle School. She took German for four years at Los Gatos High School.
Cheer Divas to hold carwash fundraiser
The independent junior all-star cheer squad, Cheer Divas, are having a fundraiser car wash on June 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Van Meter Elementary School.
Proceeds from the car wash will pay for uniforms for the girls. The Cheer Divas, along with their coaches, recently left the Pop Warner organization.
Yavneh Day School finalist in competition
A team of fourth-grade students at the Yavneh Day School in Los Gatos made it to the final round of the national Thinkquest Junior 2000 Website Competition.
The Yavneh Day School team was one of only 16 teams out of 600 to reach the final round.
Thinkquest is a classroom-based competition designed to teach children how to collect research and build an interactive website. Teams submitted entries in five categories, including Arts and Literature, Sports and Health, Math and Science and Social Science.
Methodist Church gives scholarships
The Los Gatos United Methodist church recently honored five local students with scholarships for their academic achievements and contributions to the church. The scholarships were given from the Ruth Dick Hunter/ United Methodist Women Scholarship Fund.
Recipients were Paul Bondonno attending Pacific Union College, Kathryn Breed attending Northwestern University, Kelly Hardt attending West Valley College, Alex Toy attending Brown University and Michael Young attending SJSU.
