Disaster plan for Monte Sereno
City officials in Monte Sereno, mindful that the possibility of disaster is always out there, have put out a disaster awareness book for residents that gives advice on how to deal with wildfires, earthquakes and other natural disasters that might plague the hills.
Called the Hillside Evacuation and Survival Guide, the booklet recently went out to all 1,100 households in the city.
The book includes instructions on fire prevention (and how to keep children from lighting fires), how to survive a wildfire, what to do during and after an earthquake, building a home emergency supply kit, how to prepare for an evacuation and who to call in an emergency. Hint: it's always 9-1-1.
