Los Gatos Weekly-TimesChamber produces brochure to tout town's many charmsAfter several years with an embarrassing absence of maps and brochures, Los Gatos is finally able to tout its many charms to visitors, thanks to a joint effort of the Town of Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce and the town itself. Last year, the Town Council allocated $20,000 to the Chamber to provide information services at its office in the Bank of America building at the corner of N. Santa Cruz and Almendra avenues. In addition to the $12,000 for the staffing itself, $4,500 was earmarked for brochures and $3,500 for the purchase of town maps. which were produced by the Los Gatos Community Foundation. "The money was to pay for 1,000 copies each of three brochures," Chamber executive Sheri Lewis says, "but then Chamber members offered to donate their time and skills in the form of design, pre-press and photography to maximize the project." As a result, the Chamber was able to produce 20,000 professional, thematically related brochures. One brochure focuses on the community itself and features photographs of such well-known landmarks as the Beckwith Building, the Billy Jones Railroad and Forbes Mill Museum. Another highlights the area's restaurants, and the third lists meeting venues and accommodations. Brochures and maps are available at the Chamber office in the Bank of America building.
