A call from an eyewitness led Los Gatos police July 3 to arrest brothers Victor Junior Baros, 22, and Armando Baros, 21, of South San Francisco, on suspicion of breaking into parked cars in the Los Gatos Swim and Racquet Club parking lot.
A little before 2:50 p.m., a citizen called police after observing two young men in the lot, adding that the suspects were driving a green Honda Civic.
When police arrived, they saw a green Honda driven by two young men leaving the lot. Officers stopped the car and detained the brothers. The witness then identified the two men.
Police determined the brothers had been using tools to pry or break into the locked cars. A purse stolen from one of the cars was recovered nearby.
The brothers were arrested on two counts of auto burglary as well as conspiracy to commit auto burglary. Victor Baros also had an outstanding $25,000 felony warrant from Contra Costa County on unrelated burglary charges.
They were arraigned July 8 and held at Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas. They were scheduled to enter a plea July 11 in Santa Clara County Municipal Court in San Jose.
