School elections on ballot

The filing periods for the Nov. 5 Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District and the Los Gatos Union School District elections will be open until Aug. 9. Each district has two seats available on its board of education.

The incumbents in the Los Gatos-Saratoga high school district are Robert Dunnett and Renée Patton, the current president. In the Los Gatos union district, president Rebecca Dawson is leaving her seat after two terms. The incumbent is Stephen Parsons.

Candidates for either election must pick up a packet from the respective district office or the county Registrar of Voters. When completed, the packets must be returned to the registrar.

Those who want to run in the high school district's election must file in both Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties.

There is no filing fee for either election, but there is an optional fee for a 200-word candidate's statement. According to the registrar's office, for the high school district, the fee is $490; for the elementary district, it is $170.
