Summer may be the hottest season, but it seems it's also the time when individuals meld into crowds and throng en masse to events left and right. When viewing such revels, this cat prefers vantage points like shady shrubs or trees--any cool place for a breeze to stir the fur!
Los Gatans flocked to the LGHS front lawn on a sultry July 4 with picnic lunches and good old-fashioned patriotism to check out the San Jose Wind Symphony. The 1812 Overture was certainly a fitting ending, although those Civil War cannons were just a bit too percussive to a cat's sensitive hearing.
Just three days later, many of the same festive folks braved the late afternoon heat to yell yee-haw and enjoy the honky-tonking of Sidesaddle & Co. in the Town Plaza. Great show. Just watch where you stomp them boots; felines may be underfoot!
Seeking a respite from the heat and those who go crazy from it, this cat roamed over to Oak Meadow and Vasona parks, hoping to scare up a few of the waterfowl still left around there, or at least stare at the constant stream of kids running and playing on equipment. Lots of shade, but the people are as populous as the ants. Found bucolic Bachman Park a better venue for a peaceful getaway while still being able to smirk at the inevitable shenanigans when kids and park equipment get together.
When kids--or merrymakers of any age--get together with fireworks, that's not always a smirking matter. Fortunately, no fires were started this Fourth's long holiday weekend by would-be pyrotechnicians in Los Gatos, according to my canine friend Dolph, who hangs out at the Central Fire District with his daddy Bill Hardwicke, CFD's chief fire investigator.
The PD reported nothing major either, just a handful of usual complaints about noise and flashing lights--or was that the description of a discreet UFO landing amidst all the hoopla? Hmm ... can you tell this cat is eager to sneak into the movies to catch Independence Day?
