Mildred Foreman
Longtime Los Gatos resident Mildred Alberta Merwin Foreman died June 23 at the age of 97.
Foreman was born June 2, 1904, in Chicago, Ill., and lived in Los Gatos since 1946. She was a teacher in Los Gatos schools for 30 years, her first position being in the basement of the old University Avenue School, now the site of Old Town.
Since her 1968 retirement, Foreman enjoyed many activities and organizations, including the Los Gatos History Club, the Camera Club of Los Gatos, the Clipper Club, Delta Kappa Gamma and the First Presbyterian Church of Los Gatos.
She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, traveling--including flying on her own to Florida at age 91--and making greeting cards, bookmarks and pictures out of dried flowers. She drove her own car until the age of 92.
Survivors include daughter Lenore Shelley-Weber and son-in-law Glenn Weber of Los Gatos and grandson Chris Shelley of San Jose.
Memorial services will be held July 23 at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Los Gatos, 16575 Shannon Road. Donations may be made to the World Fellowship Fund of Delta Kappa Gamma, P.O. Box 1589, Austin, Texas 78767, or to a charity of choice.
