District trustee becomes delegate to state school board association
Phil Nielsen, clerk for the Los Gatos-Saratoga joint Union High School district board of trustees, has become a delegate assembly member for the California School Boards' Association. The association represents California's school districts and county offices of education. For the next two years, Nielsen will represent Region 20 and the high school district at the state level.
Members of the assembly set direction for the association's general policy and legislation by adopting a policy platform. Delegates advocate for the association; elect officers and board of directors; and communicate local boards' interests to the association's board of directors, executive committee and staff.
Nielsen is a trustee on the metropolitan education district/central county occupational center board, chair of the Santa Clara County committee for district organization and serves on district Superintendent Cynthia Ranii's review team for the district's bond-funded projects.
