Piano workshops are scheduled

The Los Gatos-Saratoga Department of Community Education and Recreation sponsors a hands-on blues- and boogie-style piano workshop July 26 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Los Gatos High School.

The workshop is for both beginners and experts and features several topics, including the universal blues chord progression, the six-note blues scale, blues rhythm, seven powerful improvising techniques and special boogie-woogie chords.

The rec department will also sponsor a three-hour workshop for piano, organ or portable keyboard. The workshop, called Piano for Fun, will be held on the same day at LGHS from 9 a.m. to noon.

Instructor Carol Cox Faust of Spectrum School of Music will teach both workshops. She has more than 30 years' experience as a music teacher.
