    The Prowler

First things first: the Prowler has a humble correction to make. In the July 11 column, this cat said The Pet Spa had left its digs at 1516 Pollard Road and moved to 1466 Pollard Road, where it expanded its services to include the Doggie Daycare Center. Apologies are in order to all the Spa's canine clients, because the facility at 1516 Pollard is still alive and well. The new location opened just to accommodate the daycare for dogs.

In other news, Los Gatos author Diane Dreher will be signing her new book, Inner Gardening, on July 27 at 7 p.m. at Borders Books in Old Town. The Prowler--who happens to be a garden nut and greenpaw--enjoyed this creative, evocative tome that combines the physical aspects of "dirt gardening" with the spiritual aspects of cultivating the garden of one's heart.

Dreher will also discuss and sign her book Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. at Hakone Gardens, 21000 Big Basin Way in Saratoga. Both events are free and open to the public, although reservations are requested for the Hakone event, which includes a reception. Call 408.867.9349 for details.

Speaking of special events, don't miss How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, the latest production by Theatre in the Mountains, 23800 Summit Road. Local youths between the ages of 8 and 18, who've been attending the group's Performing Arts Children's Conservatory, will present the story of the rise, fall and rise again of window-washer J. Pierpont Finch of the World Wide Wicket Company.

Performances are July 26 at 7:30 p.m., July 27-28 at 8 p.m. and July 29 at 1:30 p.m. For ticket prices, directions or more info, call 408.353.9999 or visit www.theatreinthemountains.org.
