    Metro wins regional title

The Los Gatos Metro boys under-13 soccer team finished first in the "3 v 3" regional tournament played July 8 at the Morgan Hill Soccer Complex.

Jeff Delva and Ryan Olson of Los Gatos are members of the Metro team that also includes Tony Mello, Martin Stacey and Devin Malloy of San Jose. Metro, coached by former professional player Dave Gold, has earned a place in the national tournament that will be played in January of 2001 in Orlando, Fla.

Los Gatos Metro clinched the regional championship when Delva scored two goals and Mello added one in a clutch 3-2 win over the South San Jose Pumas.

Metro opened the regionals with a 4-2 win over the Sacramento Stars, then blanked the Cyclone Rage 8-0 and the Cyclone Storm 2-0. A 5-1 win over the Los Gatos Metro under-12 team pushed the 13-year-olds into the finals.

The "3 v 3" tour is the official three-on-three tour of Major League Soccer.
