    Obituaries

    Edward Brady

    Lifelong Los Gatan Edward Joseph Brady died on June 30, at the age of 53.

    Born Sept. 1, 1946, Brady was a graduate of Bellarmine College Preparatory and Santa Clara University. He was a member of the Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity and the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. Brady worked at Valley Medical Center for more than 26 years, most recently as the director of materials management. He was also a past recipient of the Award of Distinction from the County of Santa Clara.

    Survivors include wife Marilyn Pelosi Brady of Los Gatos; children Daniel, Patrick, Laura and Timothy Brady; brother James E. Brady of Modesto, Sue Brady Foley of Saratoga and Dianne Brady Forster of Los Gatos; also many nieces and nephews.

    Memorial services have been held, with interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

    Roderick Thomson

    Roderick W. Thomson of Los Gatos died on June 20, of pneumonia. He was 78.

    Born May 15, 1922 in Sacramento, Thomson joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served in the South Pacific. After World War II, he graduated from UC-Berkeley. He was employed as administrator of the Santa Clara County Floor Covering Association for 30 years. He was also active in the Northern California Society of Association Executives, for which he served as president for two terms.

    Thomson enjoyed camping and attending symphony concerts and the theater.

    Survivors include wife Licia "Alice" Thomson of Los Gatos; son and daughter-in-law Steve and Karen Thomson of El Dorado Hills; daughter and son-in-law Marta and Peer Hansen of San Jose; daughters Karen Harmon of Prescott, Ariz., and Cindi Thomson of Redwood City; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother Carl Thomson of San Francisco.

    Memorial services have been held. Donations may be made to Mid Peninsula Pathways Hospice, 65 El Camino Real, Menlo Park, 94025-5232, or to The Parkinson's Institute, 1170 Morse Ave., Sunnyvale, 94089-1605.

    David Malish


    Dr. David Malish

    Los Gatan and physician David Marc Malish, M.D., died on July 3, at Community Hospital of Los Gatos of complications from esophageal cancer, which he had battled for 22 months. He was 52.

    Born Dec. 29, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pa., Malish was a graduate of Penn State University and the Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia.

    For the past 21 years, Malish held a private practice in allergy/immunology, internal medicine and addiction medicine in the greater San Jose area, admitting patients to Good Samaritan Hospital. Among his other past positions were that of staff internist in the chemical dependency clinics at Good Samaritan and O'Connor hospitals and medical director of the Good Samaritan Recovery Center.

    Malish also served in various positions with numerous medical-related organizations and facilities; these include serving on the board of directors for the local chapter of the American Lung Association and as medical director of the ALA's Asthma Camp; and serving on the Santa Clara County Medical Society, the Professional Standard Review Committee and the Community Health Committee.

    Among his hobbies were photography, art, weight lifting and computers.

    Survivors include wife Shari Boxer of Los Gatos; daughter Jennifer Malish of Denton, Texas; sons Scott Malish of Coppell, Texas, and Jack Malish of Los Gatos; father Irv Malish of Philadelphia, Pa., and brother Steve Malish of Norwich, Conn.

    Memorial services have been held. Donations may be made to the trust fund established for Malish's 5-year-old son: The Jack Malish Trust Fund, in care of Banking Services, Heritage Bank, 150 Almaden Blvd., San Jose, 95113.
