Los Gatos Weekly-TimesNews BriefsToll House goes to council Aug. 3 The Toll House Hotel comes back Aug. 3 with its plans to expand, but this time the owners are appealing to the Town Council after the Planning Commission shot down the first set of plans in early June. This time, owner Wayne Levenfeld says, he'll be willing to compromise. He'll have a new set of plans, but wouldn't say what changes have been made to the original proposal to add 27 new rooms. "We do intend to show flexibility, and we've done a lot of work since the Planning Commission," he said. The Town Council meets at 7:30 p.m., at 110 E. Main St. Property Rights bill stalls in Senate The Senate Property Rights Bill, which passed the House earlier this year, fell short of the votes it needed to be considered in Congress this year. The bill would have changed the appeals process on land-use decisions by making it easier for landowners to take their case directly to federal court. The bill, supporters say, gives property owners the right to get a federal ruling on their case without wading through years of expensive legislation. Opponents say that the bill is designed to take land-use decisions out of the hands of local officials. President Clinton has promised a veto. Town Vacancies The town has several vacancies on various committees and boards, including the Redevelopment Advisory Committee, Housing and Community Development Advisory Committee, Personnel Board and Board of Appeals. Deadline for filing is Aug. 7. The Town Council will conduct interviews on Sept. 8. Candidates must be town residents. Call 354-6834.
