Los Gatos Weekly-TimesFDA approval means less paperworkBy Suzy Ramirez The Epilight Hair Removal System, recently introduced in the United States, received U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval July 8. Los Gatos physician Patrick H. Bitter, M.D. is one of 20 doctors in the United States, and the only doctor in Northern California, who has the hair-removal device and is licensed to use the system. "The system is a fast and effective way to get rid of hair for the long term, without the fear of regrowth," Bitter said, whose office is located at 15195 National Ave., Suite 205, in Los Gatos. "With FDA approval, our company no longer needs to produce reams and reams of reports for studies that tend to be very cumbersome." Epilight is a depilation device that uses intense pulsed-light technology. The system is unique because it is relatively painless and can be used on very dark skin without removing the pigment. When patients experience hair removal using this system, there is a higher clearance rate, faster treatment time, improved skin resilience and less pain. For a physician such as Bitter, the device's technology means treatments can be adjusted and customized according to the specific color of the hair, skin type and particular body area of the patient. For more information, call Bitter's office at 356-2154.
