Los Gatos Weekly-TimesNews BriefsLongs to go in King's Court A 15,756-square-foot Longs Drugs Super Drugstore can open its doors at Kings Court shopping center, the Planning Commission decided July 23. The store will be located between Lunardi's and Bank of America, taking up four spaces previously occupied by Monterey Video, Payless Shoe Source, Clothestime and Hit or Miss. Clothestime and Hit or Miss will remain in business until December. With Marcia Jensen absent, the commission approved architectural plans for the store after architect Robert Lyman agreed to match the blue awnings and square columns that characterize the shopping center. Town approves garbage contract The Los Gatos Town Council unanimously approved new contracts with the companies that pick up and dispose of trash in the town. Separate agreements with Green Valley Disposal Co. and Guadalupe Rubbish Disposal Co. will last until 2007. The contracts are part of a settlement ending a two-year-old lawsuit with the trash firms. Los Gatos is the last of four West Valley cities to adopt the settlement and the contracts. Unlike Saratoga and Monte Sereno, Los Gatos won't see trash rates increase immediately under the contract. Boy Scouts seek a few young men The Santa Clara County Council of the Boy Scouts of America will conduct its fall membership drive Sept. 8-11. Cub Scouting is open to boys 8-10 years old, and Boy Scouting is open to boys 11-17 years old. For more information, contact the Boy Scout office at 280-5088.
