Scott Elliott
Former Los Gatan Scott Bryan Elliott died of a heart attack July 4 in Las Vegas, where he had been residing. He was 33.
Born Aug. 5, 1967, in Quincy, Mass., Elliott's family moved to California when he was a baby; he considered Los Gatos his home. Elliott was a graduate of Daves Avenue School, Fisher Middle School and Los Gatos High School.
While at LGHS, he was active in sports and participated in wrestling, baseball and football. On the LGHS football team, he served as noseguard and was known by the nickname of "Stump," due to his brawny build but below-average (5'9") height. One of Elliott's proudest moments was helping the team win the 1985 Central Coast Section championship game.
He attended Butte Junior College in Chico and worked for a time with his father in the family's landscaping business in Los Gatos. At the time of his death, Elliott was employed as a journeyman air conditioning technician in the Las Vegas area. Among his hobbies were hunting, fishing, bike riding and taking walks with his mother.
"He cherished his friendships through all walks of his caring, wonderful life," his family recalls. "We will miss his sparkling eyes, ready smile and encouraging words to all."
Survivors include parents James and Brenda Elliott of Los Gatos; brothers Steven Elliott of Denver, Colo., and Jim Elliott of Los Gatos; nephews and nieces Jimmy, Michael, Rebecca and Stephanie; grandmother Jean Elliott of Massachusetts; girlfriend Carie Morrill of Las Vegas; and many aunts, uncles and cousins in California and Massachusetts.
Elliott's July 12 memorial service, held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, drew more than 200 people. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
