Los Gatos Weekly-TimesThe ProwlerThis week's column is devoted to the visual arts, partly because this creative cat likes it, but mainly because there's just so darn much of it happening around here. Now through Sept. 25, Cupertino artist Amy Finger exhibits a variety of works as part of the Los Gatos Arts Commission's ongoing Art in the Council Chambers program. Finger, who holds several art-related degrees, has a repertoire that includes photography, printmaking, oil painting and drawing. The Prowler's not sure which of these is included in the exhibition, so why not stop by and check it out? The Council Chambers are open weekdays during normal business hours and are located downstairs in the Los Gatos Civic Center at 110 E. Main St. Another local exhibit, this one at Forbes Mill Regional History Museum, documents the heritage of some of the Native Americans who lived throughout this part of the Bay Area before people of European descent moved in. The Ohlone: Past and Present includes tools, beads, ritual objects and photographs. The Prowler hears that Los Gatos museum folks developed this exhibit with input from members of a contemporary Ohlone tribe. Forbes Mill is located at 75 Church St. For museum hours, call 395-7375. The Los Gatos Museum of Fine Art and Natural History, often nicknamed "The Tait" for its prominent location at 4 Tait Ave., also has a new exhibit. "Pure Pigment" features pastels of landscapes, still lifes, flowers and portraits by Saratogan Mary Ann Henderson and San Jose residents Pat Suggs and Claire Verbiest. Bronze sculptures by San Josean Nancy Bowman are also on display. Call 354-2646 for museum hours.
